Frederic Chopin | 1810-1849

Posted by Unknown

Frederic Chopin was a famous virtuoso pianist back in the 1800's. He was born and raised in Poland but moved away before The Uprising in 1830. When Chopin was a child, all he did was play piano. He was a child prodigy, and has been compared to Mozart in that way. He never wrote music until he turned 20 though.

After turning 20 he started writing lots of music, however he only would go on to perform publicly 30 times in the next 19 years. He made major renovations to the Sonata, Etude, Waltz, Nocture, and more. He preferred privacy, and to make a living he sold compositions and gave piano lessons to students.

Chopin's new ballades and virtuoso music made people happy, it made them want to rebel against the nation.  When Chopin was 38 he was told to stop playing concerts because the government was afraid bad things would happen. Chopin gave one more concert before winter, then died from poison 3 months after at the age of 39. He greatly influenced the music world in such a short time, and is remembered by fellow musicians everywhere.
