Claude Debussy was born in France on August 22nd, 1862. He was the eldest of five siblings. His mother was a seamstress, and his father owned a shop that sold china and crockery. As a child he loved being argumentative. He, like Galileo questioned just about everything he could. This lead to him being very curious and experimental.
He was then accepted into a college for arts after winning the Prix de Rome. He was exposed to Wagner's music in college, and decided he wanted to play a similar way to that. His music would often express how he was feeling in his own life. He would write songs about everyday tasks, such as waking up his daughter, eating lunch, or the like. This was one of the first expressions of symbolism in music.
He wrote many great pieces, like Arabesque and Clair De Lune. Sadly, in 1909 he was diagnosed with rectal cancer. In 1916, he had one of the world's first colostomies. He died two years later of terrible haemorrhaging. His music will be remembered by many people. His (arguably) most famous song, Clair De Lune, was featured in a Twilight Saga movie, skyrocketing him back to some last fame.
