Vincent Van Gogh was a painter back in the impressionist time. He painted with bold color, and lots of emotion. He began drawing as a little boy, little did he or his parents think that he would grow up to paint over 1300 different paintings.
When he was young, he was very serious and quiet. He preferred to do his work and get on with his day instead of having fun with it. He saw school as something that blocked him from what he liked to do most, paint. Van Gogh's father was a priest, and most children at this time grew up to be what their father had done. Van Gogh was not like this. He wanted to be a painter, although his parents forced him to go to priest school.
He went on to join the Impressionists group of painters at the age of 29. He painted a lot during this time, and during this time what he painted made him what he is recognized as today. He took his painting a bit too seriously though. He got sadder and sadder as he painted more and more. At the age of 39, he shot himself. This was the end of Van Gogh's life.
