Franz Schubert

Franz Schubert was born on January 31st, 1797. When he was a young boy, he learned to play the piano from his brothers. Then he moved on to get lessons from his local choir teacher. Little did his family know he would grow up to be one of the most prolific composers of all time. People debate that if Schubert lived one more year, he may be considered one of the greatest composers, up with Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. Sadly, he only lived 31 years.
Franz was a young choirboy by the age of 7. He quickly became one of the most famous ones in Vienna. His brother taught him the piano and his father taught him to play the violin. After his voice cracked, he was still allowed to stay at the church and study. Every night the church would play a symphony. Franz played the violin for the symphony every night, expanding his musical knowledge.
Eventually he started writing music. He wrote more music than anyone else at this time. As he said "once I finished one song, I immediately started another". He wrote 600 lieders, nine symphonies, operas, and some solo piano music. He wrote over 1,000 works in a very short period of time (31 years). In 1815 alone, he composed over 20,000 bars of music. People say if he may have lived longer, he may have been the greatest composer of all time, as many great composers got better with age.
